Heard over the Cube -1

Phone rings in my neighbor's cube.

Neighbor: hi, Mark here!

Voice on the phone:hi honey, this is me.

Neighbour: hey, waz up?

Voice on the phone: one of my friends is having a card game at her house tonight. i was planning to go and have some time out there. i was wondering when you can get back from work today. i wud be finished preparing dinner and feeding Daisy. you can feed the 2 boys and keep an eye on them ??say the party is at Charlotte's house at 6??

Neighbour: Mm, let me see. i still have something to finish before winding up. say, i leave here at 6 so i can be home at around 6:30? i will feed the boys, don't worry. when will you be back ?

Voice on the phone: oh, i should be back by 9. that's so sweet of you dear. hope the boys dont trouble you much. you might want to put them to sleep if they get too troublesome.

Neighbour: Mmmm, now you are asking for more. See, what a nice husband you have got. you are gonna be happy for that. Be back on time, honey. Ok. babye.

Hanging up the phone,

Neighbour: babysitting on a friday evening!! and she wants to go to her friend's place and play game!! and i let her go from the kindness of my heart... my boys are going to destroy me. Put them to sleep, eh! Aah man, these wives are trouble.

    It's sad that the husband let his wife rule over him, that too on a Friday evening:-) Just out of curiosity, does your cube neioghbor know that you are eavesdropping on his conversation?:-)

    some part of it is fiction...not entirely real life based....btw, i didnt eavesdrop...i was sitting right next to Mark when he was talking on the phone, that's why i cud hear the 'Voice on the Phone'....satisfied??

Been listening to all of RG's albums released thru Rajalakshmi Audio recently. I almost nagged a friend of mine who visited India to buy their albums especially. I am using my accident and disability leave time to listen to them day and night. What can be said about this duo! On the first hearing, it made me drop things from my hand, stop from doing everything else, wide open my eyes towards my music system, and gape in awe. Their sweet honey dew melody and razor sharp synchronization were what struck me first. Then as I listened more and more, their care in planning the concert, their maintaining individual space and creativity during raga alapana and kalpanaswaras deserved notice and respect. How much ever synchronization is achieved in sangathis and mudivus , that much space is also present for each's display of vocal capabilities and imagination. Tribute to Dr.Suresh Ramaswamy

A down-to-earth human, a distinguished professor,  a true lover of the subject Physics and an ardent supporter of Indian Fine Arts. That is ,was Dr.Suresh Ramaswamy, fondly called SuRa. It is a rare quality amongst highly prejudiced professors of top ranked institutions to be friendly and approachable to a first year student ( come on, 3 idiots was not a joke). Riding around the campus in his favorite bicycle with a Jolna Pai adorning his side, organizing NSS meetings in the SkyLabs to concerts for spicmacay in the Auditorium, one could not but notice this humble Professor who was one among the students first of all.  The range and nobility of his thoughts and service to the community around him stands out in my memory. He hosted a number of spicmacay gatherings and would encourage us to sing and he even recorded them.
